ETHEREAL at Akasha Ibiza!

Ethereal, an event that we appreciate since a long time, is back, Sunday 27th at AKASHA Ibiza (Las Dalias).

The organizers said:” Going from strength to strength, Ethereal continues to share its love for art and music, blasting open the 2022 season at its latest host venue: the recently refurbished Ibiza classic Las Dalias and its Akasha Club. Always in tune with the magical energy of the north of the island, Ethereal holds its opening party on Sunday 27 February, 2022 and could not but ride the wave of Carnival. With a fabulous blend of live art shows, a wondrous soundscape, art exhibitions, a food point, and Kids Corner, the day-to-night party hopes to welcome everyone in costume, to open the doors of perception with the original spirit of Ibiza, for the first of 12 monthly dates at the exciting venue.

The opening of the 2022 season will see artists, live acts, and established resident DJs coming together to focus on quality. To kick off the season on Sunday 27 February, Ethereal brings in a mighty group of artists from the start.

Starting at 12:00 noon, the pioneering Italian artists Davide Garra will perform live and take you on a voyage through ambient, deep, and psychedelic techno. Also performing live, homegrown DJ and producer Chelu Garcia aka Acid Filter will add his inimitable style of techno and house. With his extensive experience with jazz, funk, rock, brazil, experimental and psytrance, he integrates all of these and more within his live shows. Live singer Amel will be accompanying the two talents with her unique blues voice, bringing a bit of Brooklyn to the White Isle.At 18:00, the Akasha Club welcomes guests inside with its much beloved residents. First up we have island masters, the deeply evocative Medusa Odyssey playing live. The Ibiza-based duo are famous for their unique show with synthesizers, electric guitar, flutes, vocals and drum machines. The result is a marvellous ethnic sound unlike any other.

From 19:50, another island favourite, the professionally trained pianist and vocalist Maricha will contribute her inimitable mix of deep house, afro-house, downtempo, chill-rave, and her own live vocals—what she named “intelligent dance.” She is admired for her dreamy sets at intimate sunset parties as much as her fierce dance energy on huge dance floors enchanting huge crowds.

One of the island’s finest, Iban Mendoza will be playing live at 21:40 with a blend of his finest tunes for the opening event. Joining the crew for this ultra-special opening, super guest Michel Cleis will be playing from 23:30. Following his 2009 banger “La Mezcla”—also the winner of the Ibiza DJ Awards “Track of the Season”—the Italo-Swiss artist was catapulted into worldwide fame. Visually, the event once again presents a brilliant collection of artists with several new names this time around, curated by Rocio Ferrer who brings a special collection of artists, as well as displaying her own work.

Freelance artist, action artist and performer Barbara Kiener uses air, light, shadows, and colour to create a poetic interpretation of the past and the future. Bringing together the artist and the viewer in the present, her work tackles poetry and politics both with her brush and actions.

Also on display, Aida Miró shares her artistic creations in both painting and Butoh dance. Ibizan by birth, she lives and works between the island and the Bronx, NYC. oul.

The work of highly qualified Aída Miró, PhD, will also form part of the exhibition. Besides the endless list of academic and professional accomplishments, Aída does live art, traditional oil painting, urban art, mythological and other portraits many of which bring dance and music together. Born in Ibiza and based in New York, the dreamy paintings of this multidisciplinary artist connect the body, mind, and soul. This time around she brings us the paintings from a live show in NYC. Originally from Gran Canarias, the Ibiza-based photographer Victoria de Guinea draws inspiration from the island and its elements to balance art and meditation. Her work captures the ephemeral moment to ponder and bring to life the fine line between the possible and the impossible.

Also displaying her work, the Ibiza native Rocio Ferrer has always been in close contact with the beauty and nature of the island. Having discovered her passion of art at an early age, she then travelled and worked in cities around the world. While in Hong Kong, she decided to return to her origins and reconnect with her inner child. After returning to her beloved island in 2020, she has been able to dedicate her energy fully to her biggest passion: art. The result includes her feminine nudes, with energetic lines and captivating colours, plus more than a touch of autobiographical elements in all her work.

Originally from Zamora, the Ibiza-based artist Sune has been painting graffiti ever since she was a child, leaving his mark in cities across the planet. A part of the Golden Boys and New York’s TDS, Sune bases his life and art around his greatest passions: graffiti and tattoos. Magnetic Island Tattoo will also be present. The tattoo and piercing studio doubles up as an art gallery and meeting point for tattoo and graffiti artists from around the world.
