Saturday, November 24th, in Naples will take place a party-celebration “Once Were Orbeat”, with the music of Roberto Biccari & JD.
Orbeat was one of the most influent Italian promoter from 1999 till 2011, the resident dj was Marco Carola and hosted artists as Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Vath, just to mention some of them.
Ibiza By Night met Diana Donzelli, actually leader of the promoter Nice To Be, and co founder with Luca Piccolo of Orbeat (previously Orbeat was also a magazine edited by Luca Piccolo, Roberto Biccari & more).
Diana said:”Orbeat was a great experience: our mission was both to organize events, but also to spread the culture of electronic music music & club culture in southern Italy. We were based in Naples, and in 12 years we attracted clubbers from all parts of Italy. Since the start of our adventure joined us Marco Carola as resident dj, and in 2005 joined us also my brother Marco. In all these years we hosted Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Gaetano Parisio, Steve Bug, Adam Beyer, Marco Carola (at least 5/6 times a year), Raresh, Tiga, John Acquaviva, Paco Osuna, Rino Cerrone, a young Seth Troxler…and the list could continue…”
The organization of an event in the early 2000’s wasn’t so easy, as explain Diana:”I don’t want to make self celebration, but at that time everything was more complicated: the social networks didn’t exist or were just starting, so the promotion was more “word of mouth” and, trust me, it was very heavy to score some results as events with 5000-6000-7000 people. When I see now “promoter” that self celebrate on the social networks their parties with 250 persons attending…well…what I have to tell (laugh)?“.
Then, in 2011 Orbeat has ended, as explain Diana Donzelli:“In 2011 the experience of Orbeat has ended… Luca Piccolo moved with Marco Carola to Ibiza and started with Ernesto Senatore & Roberto Postiglione Music On, and I remained in Naples and I founded with my brother Marco “Nice To Be” that follows to organize events and has still the mission to spread the music culture. Once Were Orbeat is party without nostalgia, it’s just a celebration of a promoter that definitly changed the rules of the game in Naples & Southern Italy, with the music of Roberto Biccari (historical Orbeat Dj resident), & JD, and it will be the opportunity to meet old and new friends… but then the adventure will continue under the sign of Nice To Be, catching the sound of the future.
