Joris Voorn today announces forthcoming studio work with his new single “You & I” featuring the vocals of producer, remixer, and lyricist Nathan Nicholson.
Naturally uplifting and empathetic “You & I” has the enduring musical qualities that has made Joris Voorn one of the worlds most celebrated international electronic acts and alongside Nathan’s vocal combines the textures of contemporary electronic music and the energy of techno his extensive career is so rooted in.
A taste of a larger body of studio work, the new vocal single is unforced and dreamlike; a trademark fusion that between performing on the world’s biggest stages sees Joris Voorn relentlessly achieve a balance of warm musical comforts with a grand pursuit of artistry.

Speaking on the vocal collaboration with Nathan Nicholson:
“The moment I heard the vocals for ‘You & I’ I was hooked to the beautiful melody, lyrics and performance.
Nathan’s voice is a perfect fit for my music, it’s heartfelt and pure. Usually vocals are written on a track or chord structure, but in this case it was the other way around. Nathan’s vocals inspired me tremendously and writing the track around it was done in a heartbeat. I’ve played various versions of the track over the course of the summer in almost every set, and the response has been incredible. It felt like we were onto something special. An accomplished and awarded outlier in the electronic music scene Joris Voorn’s diaristic decisions concerning art and life is the ultimate symbol of musical ambition. The new single is ascending and celestial; lyrically heart rending and spacious with the vivid sonic qualities that provide grounding alongside conceptual flourishes that have become an integral part of Joris Voorn’s catalogue. Having worked with stars including Claptone, David Guetta and Rita Ora to name a few, Nathan Nicholson’s soft poetics undoubtably provides spectral, almost ghostly harmony to the dancefloor.

When writing the lyrics we talked about how opposites do attract, but equally how those differences can make something wonderful and unique also become challenging and painful. Born in the Dutch town of Tilburg, the son of a composer and a music teacher, Joris gained international recognition with his debut ‘Muted Trax’ EP on Keynote which was quickly followed by his universally acclaimed ‘Lost Memories’ release on Sino the following year. The follow-up ‘Lost Memories Part 2’ in 2004 included the standout track ‘Incident’ which became an immediate and firm fixture in the sets of many of his now-peers including Carl Cox, Derrick May and Laurent Garnier.
Since then, Joris has gone on to release four highly acclaimed artist albums, ‘Future History’ (Sino, 2004), ‘From A Deep Place’ (Green, 2007), ‘Nobody Knows’ (voted electronic album of the year 2014 by Billboard Magazine in the US) and the most recently ‘\\\\’ (Spectrum / BMG 2019) which features an array of stunning collaborations including one with UK dance royalty Underworld. He has backed these up with dearly loved mix compilations for Belgian techno bastion Fuse, Australia’s Balance, London underground super club Fabric and most recently 2020’s standout GU: Rotterdam where Joris effectively remixed over 100 tracks to form a truly mesmerising chapter in the iconic Global Underground story.
Joris’s celebrated abilities and skills in the studio have also led to many high profile remixes. The list is diverse, from global superstars Dua Lipa, Swedish House Mafia, London Grammar and Editors to electronic music icons Underworld, Orbital, Elderbrook, Röyksopp and Groove Armada or cult indie writers White Cliffs – all have called on Joris Voorn to interpret their works with his fresh, discerning-dancefloor perspective. Joris’s recent remix of Eelke Klein’s ‘Transmission’ generated 30 million streams across DSPs and high rotation day time radio across much of Europe.
