Champions of the live stream arena Defected Records will host a special Ibiza edition of their PRESS.PLAY series for Twitch on 16th April in aid of the Ibiza Food Bank.
With Defected’s long history on the island, having hosted Ibiza events for over two decades, the label will leverage their live stream capabilities to raise funds.
The Ibiza Food Bank has been a lifeline for families living on the island, many of whose livelihoods have been impacted by the pandemic, therefore this special edition of PRESS.PLAY hopes to raise awareness for this vital service.
Enlisting the help of DJs based in Ibiza such as Jason Bye, Andy Baxter, Manu Gonzales and Melon Bomb, these artists will play their sets from iconic Ibiza venues that have laid empty for the last twelve months. With Manu streaming from the rooftop of Eden with views of iconic sunset hotspot San Antonio Bay, Melon Bomb will play their set from The Wild Corner at Hï Ibiza (the world’s most exciting club toilets), and finally Jason Bye and Andy Baxter will offer viewers an exclusive preview of Eden’s revamped main room during their b2b set. Other DJs joining the special edition of PRESS.PLAY from around the world include Danny Rampling from Defected’s London HQ, David Penn from Malaga and Roger Sanchez from Miami.
During the stream, viewers will be prompted to donate to Ibiza Food Bank. The Ibiza Food Bank’s mission is to create a community of volunteers across the island who will collect food, coordinate donations, volunteer on local farms, man collection points or work in the food bank itself. The food Ibiza Food Bank volunteers collect will be prepared and donated to their charity partners – IbizaPreservation, Ibiza Produce, The Red Cross, Caritas and Doctors of the World. By supporting the farmers, they can continue planting crops and donating a proportion to The Ibiza Food bank, which will ensure people in need receive fresh healthy balanced food.
The PRESS.PLAY series has already proven a hit with Defected’s legion of fans, pulling in over 2 million views across the four previous streams. Developed on the premise of being a genre non-conforming space for DJs to flex their musical muscles, PRESS.PLAY has predominantly been streamed from Defected’s brand new London HQ, as well as a number of other locations across the globe. Building on the success of Defected’s award-winning live stream series Defected Virtual Festival and We Dance As One, which attracted over 60 million viewers, Twitch’s interactivity and participation elements make PRESS.PLAY a unique live stream offering.
