Ibiza By Night meets Hannah Wants: the interview!

Hannah Wants (in the picture below) is a truly interesting English dj and producer that we appreciate since years, with a past as football player!
Ibiza By Night met Anna for an exclusive interview…and here you have it!
IBN: From football to the mix…  tell us how started your professional career as a dj.

Hannah: “I started playing football when I was 6 years old and was playing for Aston Villa and England youth teams from around the age of 15. When I started DJ’ing at 17 it eventually got to a point where I was getting in from the clubs at 8am for a shower and then straight out and onto the coach to play Women’s Premier League football, as you can imagine it wasn’t working out too great and so I had to make a decision and concentrate on one path, one passion. I’ve gotta say though, one time I did score a crazy diving header against Arsenal when I was still wired from the night before.”

IBN:What are some of your favourite artists right now?

Hannah:Some artists I’m loving at the moment are Eskuche, Miane, Jess Bays, Fleur Shore, Re.You and Black Coffee!”

IBN:Hannah & Ibiza. tell us something about your relationship with the white island…

Hannah:“I’m actually living out here temporarily whilst the current worldwide situation has meant I can’t tour or DJ. I first came out when I was 16 years old and I’ve been visiting the island every year for the last 11 years now, in a typical season I can play 10 Ibiza gigs so yeahhh, I’m usually here a lot and I love it! I spent the summers of 2010 and 2011 on the white isle with a dream of becoming a professional DJ and so Ibiza will always be where I consider I started making moves and it’ll forever have a super special place in my heart.”
IBN:You played in the Ibiza best venues: which is your favorite one ?

Hannah: “This is an impossible question to answer I feel, there are so many different clubs each with different vibes. The terrace of Amnesia is incredible, but then I loved the intimate and underground nature of Sankey’s. DC-10 and Underground are two venues I love but haven’t played so they’re definitely goals of mine.”
IBN:After the covid: how will change the musical scene & the clubbing mood?

Hannah: “I hope the industry and clubbing scene on a whole is more positive, supportive and happy with less hate, negativity and judgement. I think people are going to be so grateful and appreciative of being able to dance again that I hope the scene and clubbing mood flourishes and is better than ever before!”

IBN:What are your plans for your label Etiquette this year?

Hannah:“We took a few months off from releasing music late last year to focus on a re-brand, after two years of running a label we had learned a lot in terms of what we want and don’t want and we wanted to level up in every sense including our brand identity. So yeah, we re-branded the label and spent a few months hunting hard for new music and now it’s exciting times ahead. We recently re-launched the label with a killer two track EP from label favourite Eskuche and we have plenty of musical fire forthcoming including a 4 track EP from myself later in the year.”

IBN:Let’s talk about your future projects…
Hannah:“I’ve just released a track via Ultra Records called Lift Off and in my opinion this track signifies the beginning of a new chapter of Hannah Wants. COVID has been a bitch but one of the amazing things to have come from it is time spent in the studio exploring sounds and styles and for the first time in my career I have a full release schedule. I believe it’s by far the best music I’ve ever released so stay tuned!”
Thanks Hannah!
