Ibiza by night meets Bastian Bux, dj resident of Elrow

In Ibiza there is a party that truly makes the difference, and it’s Elrow.

Ibiza by night met one of the dj residents, Bastian Bux (in the picture below) and Freya Van Lessen realized this interview.

IBN: Can you tell us about your first experience of Ibiza?

Bastian: It was back in 2007. I was 19 years old and I came with 9 more friends. We had the most crazy week ever, I think I put a feet on the beach just one time.

IBN: Which parties did you go to?

Bastian: Carl Cox with John Digweed opening for him at Space, Cream with Paul Van Dyk at Amnesia, Subliminal with Erick Morillo at Pacha, and old party called Silicon at Privilege, Circoloco at DC10, We Love at Space… Actually I think that we went to Space every single morning. That was the last year of Space opening daytime.

IBN: Do you have some favourite spots or things to do on the island?

Bastian: Sadly not. I haven’t had the chance to discover Ibiza yet. I think that this is because of the fact I come and go a lot of times every summer just to play, and when I have time off I prefer to travel anywhere else.

IBN: What is it about Ibiza that sets it apart from other places as a mecca for clubbing?

Bastian: The weather, the food, the people, the overall mood, the legendary status… a lot of things make Ibiza unique.

IBN: How did you first get involved with elrow?

Bastian: Almost three years ago they were growing internationally, so they started looking for new resident djs.  My manager offered my profile as a candidate when I started gaining recognision and they gave me an opportunity. I think they liked what they heard 🙂

IBN: Are there any stand-out moments or parties with Elrow that you can tell us about?

Bastian: Too many of them to pick just one.

IBN: Do you have a favourite elrow theme?

Bastian: Singer Mornings is my favorite! Because it has no sense at all. Even the title has no sense. Love it!

 

IBN: If the sound of elrow had a personality, what would it be?

Bastian: Positive, energetic and crazy!

IBN: Following last year’s residency at Space, and this at Amnesia, elrow has quickly become one of the most popular parties on the island – what do you think it is about elrow that makes is so appealing?

Bastian: Because is the first party ever that really takes care of the public and make them feel part of the performance. It is a totally inmersive experience. Some people did similar things in the past, but none of them did EVERYTHING at the same time, with this level of overall quality, and topping it off with the best artists of the underground scene.

IBN: As one of Elrow’s chief residents, you must travel around a lot with the family. What have you got coming up for elrow in the next month?

Bastian: We just did our biggest show ever in London, then again Barcelona, Ibiza and around the world.. and I’ll have my first free weekend in 8 months!

IBN: What’s the best thing about being elrow’s resident spinner?

Bastian: For me the best is being part of such a great team and learn from them. I love to speak with everybody from DJs to Actors, directors, decoration crew, management, logistics and design crew…they’re all amazingly talented professionals.

IBN: Finally, can you sum up elrow in 3 words?

 

Bastian: Passion, fun and happinness.
